The Motorcyclist

Henry Ducati Pick Up (9 of 30).jpg

I guess I should start with a little bit about me... My name is Henry, I'm and I’m based in the south of England. I have been obsessed with motorcycles from a young age and since passing my test in 2013 I have ridden almost every day. In 2017 I decided to take on the challenge of becoming the youngest person to circumnavigate the world on a motorcycle - solo and unassisted. After 10 or so months of planning, plenty of mishaps (including writing off my bike) and a steep learning curve I left from the Bike Shed in London and started my 381 day 50+ thousand mile trip through 35 countries. I returned home on the 19th of April 2019 at the age of 23.

The World record

The record is comprised of a few rules which have to be adhered to in order for the record to be authenticated, these include; Travelling more than 24,500 miles, starting and finishing in the same place and reaching specific destinations on opposite sides of the planet (antipodal points). It’s a little more complicated than that but I will spare you the long list of criteria. All of this has to be evidenced by witness reports, daily notes and a log book, photo, video, receipts, GPS routes, GPS tracking and whatever else may be relevant.

The Charity

The Movember Foundation is a charity that focuses on men's health issues; specifically prostate cancer and mental health. They have an existing connection with the motorcycle community through The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride, which I have taken part in three times now. Their work is vital to the reduction of male suicide and deaths from cancer that could have been avoided, if detected sooner.
